Many in Morrow County do not have enough food to live active, healthy lives. Founded in August 2010, the Cardington Community Food Pantry helps feed many families and individuals with food assistance. In 2019, a total of 4,980 households (or 14,741 individuals) were served, providing over 200,000 meals.
Offering a mix a mix of non-perishable products, frozen meats, dairy products, fresh produce and an assortment of bread, the Cardington Community Food Pantry food pantry relies on local churches, organizations, and individuals contributing funding, time, and food donations to serve those who need assistance. With monetary donations, the pantry is able to purchase food from Mid-Ohio Foodbank to keep the pantry shelves stalked!
Located at Cardington First United Methodist Church,
300 S. Marion St., the food pantry is open every Wednesday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The pantry serves Morrow County residents and residents of the Cardington School District in Marion County. Clients may visit the food pantry once per month.
- If Morrow County is under a level 2 or 3 weather emergency,
the Pantry will be closed.
- Please note the Pantry will be closed on the following days in 2021: March 31, June 30, Sept 29, Nov 24, Dec 29
Produce Markets, open to all families from Central Ohio, will be held at the Cardington First United Methodist Church, 300 S. Marion St, on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. To qualify, families must be at or under the 200% Poverty Guidelines.
A Special Message during these Challenging Times:
Due to the pandemic and to keep all involved safe, the Cardington Community Food Pantry has changed pantry procedures from shopping in the pantry to making available pre-boxed or bagged food items.
Registration will be completed outside and boxes/bags will be loaded into vehicles or given to those who walk-in. Please remain in your vehicle or on stand on the sidewalk staying 6 feet apart and please wear a mask. To accomodate this new process and make registration quick and easy, please make a reservation prior to your pantry or produce market visit.
Per the instructions and guidelines from the US Surgeon General and the Ohio Department of Health, the Pantry is limiting workers to only 10 or less. Healthy and younger volunteers are needed during Wednesday pantry hours. Volunteers are also needed to unload delivery truck and prepack boxes on Tuesday mornings as well. If you would like to volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any donation is greatly appreciated…$1.00 can purchase 10 pounds of food from the Mid Ohio Food Bank. You can give through the Cardington First United Methodist Church online giving (simply click on the option of Food Pantry for a one-time or recurring donation).
